Role Overview
We are seeking a patient, knowledgeable, and experienced Remedial / Supportive Maths Tutor to provide personalised mathematics intervention for children, teenagers, and young adults requiring additional academic support.
The successful candidate will identify learning gaps, rebuild mathematical foundations, and develop learners' confidence through structured, evidence-informed, and differentiated instruction. The tutor will work with students performing below expected grade level due to learning gaps, interrupted education, mathematics anxiety, learning differences, English as an Additional Language (EAL), or other educational needs.
This role complements classroom instruction and supports learners following British, American, IB, Cambridge, UAE MOE, CBSE, ICSE, and other international curricula.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct educational diagnostic assessments to identify mathematical strengths and learning gaps
Develop personalised mathematics intervention programmes
Deliver one-to-one and small-group remedial mathematics sessions
Reinforce foundational numeracy, number sense, place value, arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, measurement, geometry, algebra, statistics, probability, and problem-solving
Use concrete, pictorial, and abstract teaching approaches where appropriate
Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning profiles
Support learners with mathematics anxiety using confidence-building strategies
Adapt instruction for learners with dyscalculia, ADHD, dyslexia, executive-function difficulties, or other educational needs within the tutor's professional scope
Use manipulatives, visual models, games, technology, and practical applications to improve conceptual understanding
Prepare learners for classroom assessments while prioritising long-term mathematical understanding
Monitor progress using formative assessment and data-driven intervention
Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and home support strategies
Collaborate with schools and multidisciplinary professionals where appropriate
Maintain safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Primary Education, Special Education, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
MOHRE Tutor Permit or eligibility to obtain
Minimum 3 years' experience teaching or tutoring Mathematics
Demonstrated experience supporting struggling learners
Excellent communication and instructional skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Mathematics Education, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related discipline
PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or recognised teaching qualification
Training in evidence-based mathematics intervention programmes
Experience supporting learners with dyscalculia or other learning differences
Experience in international schools or learning-support departments
Knowledge of multiple international curricula
UAE Licensing Requirements
Tutors providing remedial mathematics instruction in the UAE must hold a valid MOHRE Tutor Permit or equivalent work authorisation before providing private educational services.
Applicants must not diagnose learning disorders or provide regulated therapeutic services unless separately licensed and authorised under UAE law.
