About the Role
As an Academic / Study Skills English Tutor / Educator, you will provide tailored lessons for secondary, pre-university, and university students. Your responsibilities include teaching essay writing, research skills, academic vocabulary, summarising techniques, and effective note-taking strategies. You will track student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs and curriculum standards.
This role suits educators with experience preparing students for IB DP, A-Level, SAT/ACT, American High School, or College Prep programmes.
Requirements
Education & Academic Background
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education (English), TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field
Prior experience tutoring or teaching academic English and study skills for secondary → university students
Strong subject expertise in essay writing, research skills, academic vocabulary, summarising, and note-taking
Curriculum & Pedagogical Knowledge
Familiarity with secondary, pre-university, and university-level curricula taught in Dubai, including:
IB Diploma Programme (DP)
A-Level
SAT/ACT prep
American High School / College Prep
Ability to prepare students for exams, assignments, and academic writing tasks
Understanding of academic progression and assessment expectations
Teaching & Resource Skills
Ability to plan and deliver structured, curriculum-aligned lessons
Comfortable creating and using teaching resources (essay frameworks, research exercises, summarising guides, note-taking templates)
Skilled in giving constructive feedback and tracking student improvement
Communication & Professionalism
Strong verbal and written communication in English
Professional, reliable, and punctual
Able to communicate clearly with students and parents regarding goals, progress, and expectations
Legal & Work Eligibility
Must hold a valid UAE visa that legally permits freelance or commission-based work
Valid MOHRE tutoring/teaching permit required
No visa sponsorship or employment benefits provided
Applicant responsible for maintaining their own legal work eligibility
Compensation
💰 Commission-based
Earn a percentage of fees per session or package delivered
Earnings are performance-based and uncapped
