American Sign Language (ASL) Tutor

Role Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Tutor to support children, teenagers, adults, and families in developing effective communication through American Sign Language. You will provide personalised instruction tailored to each learner's communication goals, whether for academic support, family communication, professional development, or personal enrichment. The ideal candidate is passionate about Deaf culture, inclusive education, and empowering learners through accessible communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess students' current ASL proficiency and learning goals

• Deliver personalised one-to-one or small-group ASL lessons

• Teach ASL vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, conversational skills, and expressive/receptive signing

• Introduce learners to Deaf culture and communication etiquette

• Adapt lessons for children, adults, and learners with diverse educational needs

• Support students preparing for ASL coursework or proficiency assessments where applicable

• Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to learners and parents

• Collaborate with Simone's Tutoring specialists to provide holistic educational support

  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Education, Linguistics, Special Education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

• MOHRE Tutor Permit or eligibility to obtain

• Minimum 2 years' experience teaching or tutoring American Sign Language

• Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language

  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• National ASL teaching certification or recognised interpreter qualification

• Experience teaching both children and adults

• Knowledge of inclusive education and special educational needs

• Experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing learners

  
  

UAE Licensing Requirements

Tutors and educational specialists operating in the UAE are required to hold a valid MOHRE Tutor Permit or equivalent work authorisation. Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, the relevant permit before providing in-person services. Please ensure compliance with UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation regulations.

UAE Visa & Work Eligibility

Applicants must be legally authorised to work in the UAE through one of the following:

• Own UAE Employment Visa

• Golden Visa

• Green Visa

• Freelance Permit

• Dependent Visa with legal work eligibility

• Any other valid UAE work authorisation
