Economics Tutor — Online

Role Overview

Simone's Tutoring is seeking an experienced Economics Tutor / Trainer to provide personalised one-to-one online tuition for secondary, pre-university and adult learners. The tutor should be able to explain economic concepts clearly, construct and interpret diagrams accurately, connect theory to real-world examples, and develop strong examination technique, analysis and evaluation.

Teaching Scope

• Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and the Global Economy within the tutor's verified teaching range.

• IB Economics at SL and HL, including diagram construction, data-response skills, command terms, quantitative work, real-world application, analysis and evaluation where appropriately qualified.

• IGCSE / GCSE Economics, A Level Economics, AP Economics and other international pathways only where the tutor has demonstrable curriculum and examination experience.

• Accurate construction, labelling and explanation of economic diagrams, including shifts, movements, equilibrium changes and the economic mechanisms shown.

• Structured written responses, essay planning, data interpretation, mark-allocation awareness, exam technique and timed practice.

• Real-world application using current or relevant economic examples, while helping learners distinguish description, analysis and evaluation.

• University-level or adult Economics support only where the applicant's qualifications and teaching experience are appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

• A relevant bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Economics, Finance, Business Economics, Economic Policy, Education with Economics, or a closely related discipline.

• At least 2 years of relevant Economics teaching, lecturing or tutoring experience.

• Strong subject knowledge across the economic topics and levels the applicant wishes to teach.

• Evidence of the curricula, examination boards, year groups and levels the tutor is genuinely qualified to support.

• Ability to teach diagrams, quantitative skills, written analysis and evaluation clearly rather than relying on memorised model answers.

• Strong spoken and written English for student, parent and team communication.

• Reliable high-speed internet, webcam, microphone and a professional online teaching environment.

• Ability to deliver interactive online lessons using Zoom or another approved platform and to use digital whiteboards, shared documents or screen annotation effectively.

Preferred Experience

• PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, teaching licence, university teaching experience or another recognised teaching qualification.

• Strong experience with IB Diploma Economics HL / SL, particularly exam-style diagram explanation, real-world application and evaluation.

• Experience with one or more of IGCSE / GCSE, A Level, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics or university-level Economics.

• Experience teaching international-school learners and providing personalised one-to-one online tuition.

• Confidence supporting learners with essay structure, data-response questions, economic calculations and examination timing.
