Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Montessori Specialist Tutor — Primary (Ages 6–12) to support children during the Montessori Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary stages.


The successful candidate will deliver child-centred, developmentally appropriate lessons that promote independence, concentration, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and a deep understanding of academic concepts. Instruction should reflect Montessori principles, including hands-on learning, purposeful activity, freedom within structure, mixed-subject integration, self-correction, and respect for the child’s individual pace of development.


The tutor may support homeschooled learners, children attending Montessori schools, students transitioning between Montessori and mainstream curricula, and families seeking a more practical, holistic approach to primary education.


Key Responsibilities
  • Observe and assess each child’s academic development, interests, learning preferences, independence, and readiness

  • Develop personalised Montessori learning plans for children aged 6–12

  • Deliver one-to-one and small-group lessons based on Montessori elementary principles

  • Prepare and maintain an orderly, purposeful, and developmentally appropriate learning environment

  • Present Montessori materials clearly and guide children toward independent use

  • Teach Mathematics through concrete, visual, and abstract progression

  • Support language development, grammar, spelling, reading, writing, literature, and creative expression

  • Teach geometry, measurement, fractions, decimals, operations, place value, and problem-solving using Montessori materials and methods

  • Introduce cultural studies, including geography, history, science, biology, and social understanding

  • Deliver the Montessori Great Lessons and connected follow-up activities where appropriately trained

  • Encourage independent research, project work, classification, experimentation, and interdisciplinary learning

  • Support executive functioning, organisation, responsibility, task completion, and self-management

  • Observe learners carefully and introduce lessons based on developmental readiness

  • Allow children to work at an appropriate pace while maintaining clear expectations and structure

  • Encourage self-correction, reflection, perseverance, and internal motivation

  • Support social development, cooperation, grace and courtesy, and respectful communication

  • Assist children transitioning between Montessori, British, American, IB, UAE MOE, or other curricula

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress, observations, and suggested home activities

  • Collaborate with learning-support specialists, therapists, and subject tutors where appropriate

  • Maintain safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Primary Education, Child Development, Psychology, Montessori Education, or a related field

  • Recognised Montessori Elementary qualification for ages 6–12, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, or equivalent

  • MOHRE Tutor Permit or eligibility to obtain

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching or tutoring primary-aged children

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Montessori elementary environment

  • Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy, observation, lesson sequencing, and prepared environments

  • Demonstrated ability to use Montessori elementary materials accurately


Preferred Qualifications
  • AMI, AMS, MACTE-accredited, NAMC, or equivalent recognised Montessori elementary credential

  • PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or recognised primary teaching qualification

  • Experience teaching both Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary learners

  • Experience in an accredited Montessori school

  • Experience delivering the Montessori Great Lessons

  • Knowledge of British, American, IB, Cambridge, or UAE primary curricula

  • Experience supporting home-educated children or students transitioning between Montessori and mainstream education

  • Training in special educational needs, gifted education, positive behaviour support, or child safeguarding


UAE Licensing Requirements

Tutors and educational specialists operating in the UAE are required to hold a valid MOHRE Tutor Permit or equivalent work authorisation. Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, the relevant permit before providing in-person services. Please ensure compliance with UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation regulations.


Applicants must provide Montessori instruction only within the scope of their verified qualifications and must not represent tutoring services as an accredited Montessori school programme unless separately authorised.


UAE Visa & Work Eligibility

Applicants must be legally authorised to work in the UAE through one of the following:

  • Own UAE Employment Visa

  • Golden Visa

  • Green Visa

  • Freelance Permit

  • Dependent Visa with legal work eligibility

  • Any other valid UAE work authorisation


Required Experience
  • 3+ years teaching or tutoring children aged 6–12

  • 2+ years in a Montessori elementary classroom or learning environment

  • Experience presenting and sequencing Montessori elementary materials

  • Experience conducting learner observations and developing personalised plans

  • Experience supporting independence, concentration, and self-directed learning

  • Experience communicating progress and recommendations to parents

  • Experience supporting children in one-to-one or small-group settings
