Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and data-driven NWEA MAP Assessment Specialist Tutor to support students preparing for and interpreting the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP Growth®) assessment.
The successful candidate will provide personalised academic intervention based on MAP Growth data, helping students improve achievement in Mathematics, Reading, Language Usage, and Science where applicable. The tutor should be skilled in analysing RIT scores, learning continuums, growth targets, and instructional priorities to create targeted intervention programmes.
This role is designed to complement school instruction and assist students in achieving measurable academic growth while building confidence, independent learning habits, and subject mastery.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct an initial academic consultation with the student and parent
Review available NWEA MAP Growth reports, RIT scores, growth projections, percentile rankings, and instructional recommendations
Identify learning gaps and strengths using MAP assessment data
Develop personalised intervention plans aligned with the learner's instructional level rather than grade level
Deliver one-to-one and small-group tutoring in Mathematics, Reading, Language Usage, and Science within the tutor's qualifications
Use differentiated teaching strategies to target individual skill gaps
Align lessons with MAP Learning Continuum recommendations where appropriate
Teach foundational concepts before progressing to more advanced skills
Build critical thinking, reasoning, vocabulary, comprehension, problem-solving, and academic confidence
Prepare students for future MAP Growth testing through meaningful skill development rather than test memorisation
Conduct regular formative assessments to monitor progress
Analyse learner growth and adjust intervention plans accordingly
Support students transitioning between international curricula using MAP data as a diagnostic tool
Explain MAP reports and growth data clearly to parents
Collaborate with classroom teachers and learning-support specialists where appropriate
Recommend additional academic resources, enrichment, or intervention when needed
Maintain accurate progress records while protecting student confidentiality
Stay informed about current NWEA assessment practices and educational best practices
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Mathematics, English, Literacy, Educational Psychology, or a related field
MOHRE Tutor Permit or eligibility to obtain
Minimum 3 years' experience teaching or tutoring students using data-informed instruction
Experience working with NWEA MAP Growth assessments or equivalent adaptive assessment systems
Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and student progress monitoring
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Education, Assessment, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related discipline
PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or recognised teaching qualification
Previous experience in an international school using NWEA MAP Growth
Experience interpreting RIT scores and MAP Growth reports
Experience supporting American, IB, British, or international curricula
Experience with Response to Intervention (RTI), MTSS, or personalised learning frameworks
Training in literacy intervention, numeracy intervention, or assessment analysis
Experience supporting gifted learners and students with learning differences
UAE Licensing Requirements
Tutors and educational specialists operating in the UAE are required to hold a valid MOHRE Tutor Permit or equivalent work authorisation. Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, the relevant permit before providing in-person services.
This role provides educational tutoring and assessment interpretation only. Tutors must not represent themselves as official NWEA testing administrators, certification providers, or score verification authorities.
