Role Overview

Simone's Tutoring is looking for an A Level Business Studies Tutor in Umm Al Quwain who can provide structured face-to-face support for advanced secondary Business students. The tutor should strengthen content mastery, quantitative accuracy, contextual application and evaluative judgement.

Teaching Scope

  • Deliver personalised one-to-one A Level Business Studies tutoring aligned with the learner's exact specification, current attainment, assessment timetable and target grade.

  • Teach core Business content including business objectives, stakeholders, ownership, external influences, entrepreneurship, decision-making and strategic direction.

  • Teach marketing topics including market research, segmentation, targeting, positioning, marketing objectives, the marketing mix, elasticity, product portfolios and competitive strategy where required by the specification.

  • Teach operations topics including capacity, productivity, lean production, quality management, supply chains, location, inventory, efficiency and operational decision-making.

  • Teach human resource topics including organisational structure, leadership, motivation, workforce planning, recruitment, training, employee relations and organisational culture.

  • Teach finance topics including revenue, costs, profit, cash flow, budgets, break-even, contribution, investment appraisal, financial statements, ratio analysis and interpretation of financial performance where required by the specification.

  • Develop quantitative skills including percentages, percentage change, index numbers, averages, contribution, break-even, decision trees, investment appraisal and interpretation of tables, graphs and financial data.

  • Teach strategic analysis and decision-making through case studies, including internal and external influences, risk, change, competitiveness, growth and long-term objectives.

  • Develop data-response and case-study technique so students select relevant evidence, apply theory precisely and avoid generic textbook responses.

  • Strengthen extended writing by teaching clear chains of analysis, contextual application, counterarguments, balanced evaluation and justified conclusions.

  • Teach command words, assessment objectives, timing, question planning and mark-allocation strategy specific to the learner's exam board.

  • Use past papers, examiner-style questions and mark-scheme analysis to diagnose recurring weaknesses and build examination confidence.

  • Support recognised A Level Business pathways such as Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, AQA or OCR where these match the tutor's verified experience.

  • Provide concise progress feedback identifying content gaps, examination-technique weaknesses and clear next priorities.

  • Maintain academic-integrity boundaries and do not complete assessed coursework, assignments or examinations on the student's behalf.

Minimum Requirements

  • A recognised degree in Business, Business Management, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Management, Education or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrable subject competence specifically at A Level Business Studies or an equivalent advanced secondary Business qualification.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant classroom teaching, tutoring, lecturing or subject-specialist experience.

  • Direct experience with at least one A Level Business specification or examination board, such as Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, AQA or OCR.

  • Strong knowledge of case-study application, quantitative business skills, extended-response writing and evaluative examination technique.

  • Ability to interpret specification language, assessment objectives, command words and mark schemes accurately.

  • Ability to diagnose whether a student's weakness is content knowledge, application, analysis, evaluation, quantitative skill or time management.

  • Strong professional communication, punctuality, safeguarding awareness and respect for academic integrity.

  • Legal authorisation to provide private tutoring in the UAE and a valid MOHRE Private Tutor Work Permit, or eligibility to obtain the permit before accepting assignments.

  • Reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel to students' homes or approved learning venues in Umm Al Quwain.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting students through a full A Level Business course or final examination cycle.

  • Strong understanding of assessment objectives and examiner expectations.

  • Ability to adapt explanations and question practice to different confidence and attainment levels.

  • Experience using mark schemes and examiner feedback to improve student responses.

  • Experience creating targeted revision plans around specification gaps and examination dates.

  • Confidence teaching both quantitative Business skills and extended evaluative writing.
