Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced English Literature Tutor to provide personalised, one-to-one in-person support to children and teenagers in Dubai. The tutor will help learners strengthen literary analysis, close reading, essay writing, critical thinking, textual interpretation and examination technique across the curriculum levels and pathways within their verified expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Assess each student's current attainment, strengths, learning gaps and academic goals in English Literature
Plan and deliver personalised, curriculum-aligned English Literature lessons
Teach close reading and analysis of poetry, prose, drama and other literary texts
Develop students' understanding of themes, characterisation, structure, language, form, context and literary devices
Strengthen analytical paragraphing, essay planning, thesis development, use of textual evidence and academic writing
Support unseen poetry, unseen prose, comparative responses, timed writing and examination technique where relevant
Prepare students for school assessments and external examinations within the tutor's verified curriculum and exam-board experience
Differentiate teaching to suit the learner's age, confidence, learning profile and academic needs
Provide clear progress feedback to parents and the Simone's Tutoring team while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards
Curriculum & Level Coverage
British curriculum English Literature, including secondary, GCSE / IGCSE and A Level where qualified
IB English A Literature or Language & Literature pathways where qualified
American curriculum English Literature and AP English Literature where qualified
Other school curricula and examination pathways only where the tutor has demonstrable subject and assessment expertise
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English Literature, English Language & Literature, English, Education, Humanities or a closely related field with substantial literature content
Minimum 2 years' experience teaching or tutoring English Literature
Strong knowledge of literary analysis, essay writing, textual interpretation and age-appropriate literature instruction
Excellent spoken and written English
Valid MOHRE Private Tutor Permit, or eligibility to obtain the required permit before accepting tutoring assignments
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
PGCE, B.Ed, QTS, teaching licence or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
UAE school or private tutoring experience
Experience with British, IB or American curriculum pathways and relevant external examinations
Strong knowledge of assessment objectives, mark schemes, essay structures and examination technique
Experience supporting students with confidence, reading comprehension, analytical writing or learning-support needs
UAE Work & Travel Requirements
Own valid UAE residence / visa sponsorship or other lawful work authorisation
Reliable personal transportation and ability to travel to students' homes or approved learning venues in Dubai
NOC from current employer where legally required
All permits, approvals and documentation required to lawfully provide private tutoring in the UAE must remain valid
