About the Role
As an ASL Tutor / Educator, you will provide structured lessons in American Sign Language for students of varying proficiency, from beginner to advanced. Your responsibilities include teaching communication skills, literacy, and academic vocabulary, adapting lessons for students’ individual needs, and supporting academic progress, including exam preparation where applicable.
This role is ideal for educators with experience in teaching ASL to children or adolescents in English-speaking academic settings.
Requirements
Education & Academic Background
Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language, Education, Special Education, Linguistics, or a related field
Prior experience tutoring or teaching DHH students in ASL
Strong knowledge of ASL grammar, vocabulary, and academic communication
Curriculum & Pedagogical Knowledge
Ability to teach Beginner → Advanced levels
Familiarity with school curricula in Dubai that accommodate DHH learners, including:
British Curriculum (EYFS → GCSE / IGCSE)
American Curriculum (Elementary → High School)
International Baccalaureate (PYP, MYP, DP)
Indian Curriculum (CBSE / ICSE)
French international schools
Ability to support general communication, academic progress, and exam preparation
Teaching & Resource Skills
Ability to plan and deliver curriculum-aligned ASL lessons
Comfortable creating and using teaching resources (worksheets, exercises, vocabulary lists, visual aids)
Skilled in giving constructive feedback and tracking student progress
Communication & Professionalism
Strong communication skills in English (for instruction and parent/student updates)
Professional, reliable, and punctual
Respectful and patient when teaching students with DHH needs
Legal & Work Eligibility
Must hold a valid UAE visa that legally permits freelance or commission-based work
Valid MOHRE tutoring/teaching permit required
No visa sponsorship or employment benefits provided
Applicant responsible for maintaining their own legal work eligibility
Compensation
💰 Commission-based
Earn a percentage of fees per session or package delivered
Earnings are performance-based and uncapped
