Role Overview
We are seeking an analytical and experienced TIMSS & PISA Specialist Tutor to support learners in developing the mathematical, scientific, reading, and problem-solving competencies assessed through international benchmarking studies.
The successful candidate will prepare students using competency-based, application-focused, and reasoning-rich instruction aligned with the skills commonly assessed in the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study and the Programme for International Student Assessment.
This role is intended to improve underlying academic competencies rather than coach students to memorise confidential or restricted assessment content.
Key Responsibilities
Assess learners’ current skills in mathematics, science, reading, and applied problem-solving
Develop personalised or group-based preparation programmes
Teach higher-order thinking, reasoning, interpretation, application, and real-world problem-solving
Support mathematics skills including number, algebra, geometry, measurement, data, and probability
Support science skills across Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, and scientific inquiry
Develop reading literacy, information retrieval, interpretation, evaluation, and written reasoning
Teach learners to analyse graphs, charts, tables, diagrams, and multi-step information
Develop scientific reasoning, evidence evaluation, and experimental interpretation
Teach mathematical modelling and application in authentic contexts
Support digital problem-solving and computer-based assessment readiness
Use publicly available released items and educator-created practice materials
Familiarise learners with common question formats without reproducing restricted assessment materials
Teach time management, question interpretation, and response-planning strategies
Develop learner confidence in unfamiliar and interdisciplinary problems
Conduct benchmark-style practice assessments
Analyse errors and identify recurring competency gaps
Provide intervention plans based on assessment results
Support schools with enrichment sessions, workshops, and targeted learner programmes where appropriate
Communicate progress clearly to parents, schools, and programme coordinators
Maintain academic integrity, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, English, Educational Assessment, Curriculum Studies, Psychology, or a related field
MOHRE Tutor Permit or eligibility to obtain
Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching Mathematics, Science, English, or assessment preparation
Strong understanding of competency-based and international benchmarking assessments
Demonstrated experience teaching applied reasoning and higher-order thinking
Strong data interpretation and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education, Educational Assessment, Curriculum and Instruction, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Literacy, or a related discipline
PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or recognised teaching qualification
Experience supporting schools with TIMSS, PISA, PIRLS, or other international assessments
Experience in school improvement, assessment coordination, or curriculum leadership
Experience analysing learner-performance data
Knowledge of international assessment frameworks
Experience delivering teacher training or school workshops
Familiarity with computer-based assessment environments
UAE Licensing Requirements
Tutors providing direct private educational instruction in the UAE must hold a valid MOHRE Tutor Permit or equivalent work authorisation.
Applicants must not claim to represent the OECD, IEA, TIMSS, PISA, PIRLS, or any official assessment authority unless formally appointed and authorised.
Tutors must not obtain, reproduce, distribute, or teach confidential, restricted, leaked, or unauthorised assessment materials. Preparation must use publicly released content, curriculum-aligned materials, and independently developed practice activities.
UAE Visa & Work Eligibility
Applicants must be legally authorised to work in the UAE through one of the following:
