Early Literacy Support (Age 4)
At Simone’s Tutoring, our early literacy sessions for 4-year-olds focus on developing strong reading and writing foundations in a fun, engaging way.
Children practice copying simple words and sentences, helping to improve early handwriting while building recognition of letters, sounds, and common words. Through guided reading aloud, they develop confidence, strengthen pronunciation, and begin to understand simple texts.
Our sessions are interactive and age-appropriate, using games, storytelling, and repetition to make learning enjoyable and memorable. The goal is to give young learners a supportive, positive start to reading and writing, helping nurture a lifelong love of learning. 📖✨

Alphabet Recognition

Alphabet Recognition Support
Our alphabet recognition videos are designed to support early literacy development by helping young learners identify and name the letters of the alphabet with confidence.
Through engaging and hands-on activities, children practice recognizing both uppercase and lowercase letters, matching letters to their corresponding sounds, and developing familiarity with the alphabet.
These videos are developmentally appropriate, interactive, and supportive of foundational reading skills, making them ideal for young learners who are just beginning their literacy journey and building the essential skills needed for future reading success. 📚✨
Phonics

Phonics Read and Race Activity
In these videos, the student is playing the Phase 2 & Phase 3 Phonics “Read and Race” Game—an engaging, dice-based activity designed to strengthen early reading skills.
As the child rolls the dice and moves along the game board, they encounter decodable words aligned with Phase 2 and Phase 3 phonics. Each word is sounded out and read aloud before the student can continue progressing.
This interactive activity supports key early literacy skills, including blending sounds, decoding words, and recognising high-frequency words, all while making learning fun, active, and game-based so that reading practice feels like play. 📚🎲✨

Our Maths Learning Activities
Our maths section highlights engaging, hands-on activities designed to build strong foundational numeracy skills for early learners.
Featured videos include the Bunny Hop Number Line activity, where students develop counting skills and number sense through movement, and the Snowman Activity, which supports counting, sorting, and early addition within 10. We also include Arithmetic Mental Maths exercises that help strengthen quick thinking, accuracy, and confidence with numbers.
Each activity demonstrates interactive, student-centred learning approaches that make maths meaningful, enjoyable, and developmentally appropriate for primary-aged students, encouraging both understanding and confidence in early mathematics.

Exploring Early Maths Through Block Play
In these clips, young learners explore colours, shapes, and spatial awareness through guided block play activities.
The activities encourage early maths concepts such as sorting, matching, and pattern building. Children work both independently and collaboratively to stack, connect, and create using large construction blocks.
This type of play strengthens fine motor skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, while making learning engaging, interactive, and fun in a supportive, play-based environment.

Letter Blending with Open Syllables
Early Phonics Blending Activity
This activity focuses on early phonics blending using simple consonant–vowel (CV) syllables. The child practices blending two-letter combinations such as ta, bo, ji, and ma by first sounding out each letter and then reading the syllable smoothly as a whole.
A pointer is used to guide attention and support left-to-right tracking, helping the learner develop important early reading habits. Alongside the blending cards, an alphabet reference board reinforces letter recognition and correct letter formation.
This exercise helps strengthen decoding skills, phonemic awareness, and early reading fluency, supporting the child as they begin to confidently read simple open syllables. 📚✨
