UAE School Calendar 2026–27: Plan Around Ministry-Curriculum Breaks

School-break dates can make a real difference to tutoring plans. The UAE school calendar 2026–27 gives families following the Ministry curriculum useful planning points for consultations, revision and support around the October and winter breaks.

UAE school calendar 2026–27: key Ministry-curriculum dates

The Ministry of Education’s 2026–28 overview lists these student dates for the 2026–27 school year:

• First semester mid-term break: 12–18 October 2026; schools resume on 19 October.

• Winter break: 14 December 2026–3 January 2027 in the 2026–28 overview; schools resume on 4 January 2027.

There is a small difference between Ministry pages: the separate 2026–27 summary lists the winter break through 1 January, while the 2026–28 overview lists it through 3 January. The overview names 4 January as the school return date. Check your child’s school calendar for its confirmed last day and return date before scheduling.

Who should use these dates?

The Ministry says its calendar applies to public schools and private schools following the Ministry curriculum. Other private schools may adjust October and/or February mid-term breaks, subject to local education-entity approval and with up to five days’ variation; Sharjah schools have specific rules. British, IB, American and other curriculum schools may therefore follow different dates.

How school breaks can shape tutoring plans

A break can be a useful point to review progress or plan targeted revision, but it does not automatically mean a family wants extra lessons. In a consultation, ask about the student’s actual school dates, current workload, upcoming assessments and the family’s preferred pace.

• Use the weeks before a break to identify priority topics and agree on realistic goals.

• Offer optional revision or catch-up sessions only after checking the family’s plans and tutor availability.

• Plan the return week with space for students to settle back into school routines.

• Record the specific school calendar used for each student instead of assuming every UAE school follows the same dates.
